For PSC scholarship recipient Lakisha, education is more than a personal achievement—it’s an opportunity to change the trajectory of her family’s future and create lasting impact within her community. A dedicated mother, banking professional, and lifelong learner, Lakisha is pursuing a degree in business management.
With more than 15 years of experience in the financial industry, Lakisha hopes to one day open her own business and create greater financial stability for her family. She also shares her expertise by leading financial literacy courses through local nonprofit events, helping others gain the knowledge and confidence to achieve their own financial goals.
As a recipient of the Frances and Yancey Chewning Endowed Scholarship, Lakisha says the support has been life changing. “Coming from a family where higher education was not an option, this opportunity means a great deal to me,” she shared. “I am working hard to achieve my academic goals so that I can create a better future for myself and serve as a role model for my family and community.”
