In the heart of the holiday season, Pensacola State College transformed the BEAR JONES MOORE REEVES Center for Math and Advanced Technology and the Morette Sky Terrace into a location to host sponsors and to recognize scholarship Change Makers and distinguished donors. The evening showcased the generosity of local philanthropists and brought the community together to reflect on the year’s accomplishments.
At the forefront of this heartwarming gathering were Jo-Ann and Michael Price, co-founders of the Change Maker Program and hosts for the evening’s event. The Prices share a commitment to education that has created ripples of positive impact at PSC. Most recently, Jo-Ann and Michael established the I Can Do It! Endowed Scholarship, which helps magnify the transformative power of education.
Pensacola State College President, Dr. Ed Meadows, commended the couple for their dedication to PSC stating, “The Prices have not only made a financial contribution, but they have invested in the dreams and potential of our students. Their support is a beacon for those navigating the educational journey, especially during this joyful season.”
President Meadows continued on to provide insight into the significance of this special event. “Philanthropy is more than just a monetary contribution,” he expressed. “It’s a collective investment in the future.”
During the evening, guests were invited to indulge in self-guided tours of the venue, explore the scenic Morette Sky Terrace, and enjoy live music provided by former PSC students.
Adding a touch of excitement to the evening, local business owner, Collier Merrill, led a live auction, where guests took the opportunity to bid on several unique items including a one-of-a-kind Pensacola Pelican in Paradise, a week-long Maine vacation, Pizazz holiday decorating services, and a 9-liter cabernet sauvignon. All $14,350 of the auction’s proceeds were contributed to the College’s Fund for Excellence, which provides support for the greatest needs of PSC.
“Holiday Experience is not just a gathering; it’s a celebration of Pensacola State College, growth of community, shared values, and the incredible potential within each student,” shared President Meadows.
Andrea Krieger, Executive Director for the Pensacola State College Foundation, plays a vital role in ensuring that the spirit of philanthropy thrives year-round at PSC. In her own words, “The holiday season is a time for reflection, gratitude, and giving back. We extend a heartfelt thanks to our donors who have illuminated the path for students, providing not just financial aid but hope for a brighter future.”
