La’Krystal Neal-Williams, an Academic Advisor and Life Skills Coach with the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center, has been with the College since October of 2022. As a member of the TRIO team, La’Krystal helps ensure that first-generation students and those with financial need receive access to resources and assistance that will carry them from higher education to a successful career.
As a first-generation student herself, La’Krystal understands the significance of the opportunities that TRIO provides. “I’m one child of ten,” La’Krystal shared. “My parents didn’t receive degrees, so I enrolled in TRIO in 2010 and I can testify that it works! I met my husband through TRIO and now my kids are in it. The support the program provides is life changing.”
PSC’s opportunities for personal and professional development are one of the many things about her work that La’Krystal enjoys. “There’s always room to continue growth and learning at Pensacola State College. It’s an environment and culture that completely supports access to education.”
La’Krystal chooses to give back to spread encouragement and joy. “Giving is contagious,” she expressed. “Someone once believed in me, so it’s important that I return the care and positivity that I’ve received.”
