Erin Roush has been with Pensacola State College as a Workforce Program Support Coordinator for nearly two years. Among the many reasons to love being a PSC Pirate, Erin shared that the bonds shared between students, faculty, and staff is what brings joy to her career.
“I enjoy seeing how our students can change their lives through access to higher education,” Erin expressed. “On top of that, our faculty and staff are truly the best around! I’ve never met a group of people more dedicated to helping students succeed. There is so much to love about PSC!”
Erin shared that her coworkers are another source of joy in her day-to-day experience at PSC. “I’m proud to be part of an amazing team, it’s an honor to work alongside them. Go, Workforce Education!”
To celebrate her passion for PSC, Erin chooses to give back and donate through Friends of Culinary Arts, one of the College’s affinity groups.
“It’s amazing to be able to help out our talented culinary students and receive great membership perks. If free to-go meals and early reservations aren’t enough incentive to give, I don’t know what is,” Erin joked.
As a supporter of Pensacola State College, Erin recounted what first inspired her to begin paying it forward.
“I attended Sip, Savor & Support, the College’s employee giving event, last year and saw the amazing work that our school’s culinary arts students were producing,” Erin recalled. “Even though I didn’t have much to give, I wanted to help however I could.”
Erin explained that her perspective on giving changed after speaking with one of the culinary arts students that evening. “A student said to me, ‘It’s okay if you can’t give a lot, Miss Erin. Even if your donation only covers one book, that one book will really help a student out!'”
“What that student said has stuck with me ever since,” Erin said. “I may not be able to give much, but I will continue to give as long as I can make a difference for at least one person.”
