Kathy has been a member of the Pirate family since 1998, when she first began working in the Adult Education Department of a then PJC before transitioning to a full-time position in 2012 and moving to the Humanities and Social Sciences Department in 2017. When she recounts her love for PSC, she mentions how much that the College has to provide the community. “I love that there is something for everyone at PSC and how it serves the community in so many ways. I loved the slogan, ‘You Can Get There From Here’ and the current slogan ‘Go Here Get There’ because they really represent what the College does best, caring for students and helping them overcome barriers to success.”
Kathy chooses to support PSC because she understands the struggles of being a student, having been one herself. “As an undergrad student, I was the recipient of generous donations in the form of scholarships that enabled me to graduate with a bachelor’s degree many years ago,” she says.
In many cases, students on their journeys to their degrees are helped through scholarships or other financial support at some point during their time in school. Donors like Kathy pay it forward for current and future scholars. “Because of the generosity of others, I’ve also wanted to help students at PSC achieve their academic and career goals by becoming a donor.”
