Savannah is a recipient of a full basketball scholarship and is the first in her family to attend college. “I want to be a role model for my nieces, and I want my family to be proud of me.
“Growing up I saw my mom struggle, and I knew I didn’t want that for my kids.” At one time, Savannah’s mom was working three jobs. “Seeing my mom’s life, how she had to work and struggle to provide for all of us, I know that education is so important.”
Savannah had to move to pursue her studies in elementary education on a basketball scholarship.
Leaving home was hard because she had never moved. Living in the same house for 19 years, Savannah had difficulty leaving her two young nieces and her mother.
However, she is immersing herself in the college experience and enjoys participating in tailgating events and community service with her basketball team.
She wants donors to know that “their support is not going unnoticed. We want to make donors proud.”
