On Thursday, November 17th, members of the Pensacola Suburban West Rotary Club had the opportunity to meet two of their scholarship recipients, Kimberly Bradley and Chalatia Hayes.
The scholarship the Club established in 1992 with a $10,000 gift, has supported students with $26,786 in awards in the last twenty years*.
To mothers like Chalatia and Kimberly, returning to advance their education later in life, support from private scholarships gives them the ability to afford and attend PSC.
“I love school,” Kimberly says. “I enjoy going back and learning, it’s my drive.”
She smiled saying, “Being able to pursue my dreams of obtaining my place in the growing industry of criminal justice means the world to me.”
With her AS in criminal justice, Kimberly aspires to earn her masters and will begin pursuing her bachelors degree in the spring of 2023.
Chalatia Hayes chose to pursue an education at Pensacola State College to set an example for her four sons. She hopes to inspire her sons to pursue a higher education.
“I’m thankful for where I am today. This scholarship brings me closer to my dream career in project management and will allow me the opportunity to give back to others in need one day.”
Chalatia graduated with her advanced technical certification and looks forward to continuing to pursue her passions.
