Every Gift Has a Story and Leaves a Lasting Legacy!
At Pensacola State College, the Foundation manages more than 300 scholarships that have been privately funded as a legacy that donors have helped create. Through these scholarships, donors have supported the passions and interests of students who apply for financial assistance.
In 2022, the impact these donors created was felt by 1,066 students and families who were helped with scholarship awards that total more than $895,400!

PSC names the planetarium’s foyer in honor of Merry Edenton-Wooten
The foyer of Pensacola State College’s Planetarium and Space Theatre was dedicated to the memory of Merry Edenton-Wooten on Monday, April 15.
Merry Edenton-Wooten, wife of retired PSC professor of forty-three years Dr. Wayne Wooten, passed away in March 2021. A plaque commemorating her passion for astronomy and dedication to the College now hallmarks the foyer.
Female athletes receive support through an endowed scholarship
Keith Hoskins, a former commanding officer of Pensacola’s Naval Air Station, Blue Angel, and western district general manager at Florida Power and Light Company (formerly Gulf Power), is an established member of the Pensacola area. Currently serving as the executive vice president of Navy Federal Credit Union, Hoskins is in tune with the financial needs of the community. Keith, alongside his wife, Lori, established a scholarship at Pensacola State College in June of 2022.
Scholarship endowment memorializes a beloved local celebrity chef
To preserve his memory and continue his legacy, the many fans and loved ones of Chef Peyroux, led by the efforts of Drs. Tip and Ellen McKnight and Hal George, established the Earl Peyroux Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Pensacola State College. Concentrated fundraising through the annual Earl Peyroux Scholarship Reception, held at the McKnight’s home over the past three years, helped bring a $60,000 endowment to fruition.
Commitment to community and education lives on through Melba Bayers Meyer Charitable Trust Scholarship
The Melba Bayers Meyer Charitable Trust Scholarship, established in April 2023, is a resource that supports Native American students at Pensacola State College with up to $1,000 per school year.
Mike Morette assumes a role as President of the PSC Foundation Board of Governors
Beginning in January 2024, Pensacola State College Foundation Board of Governors Vice President, Mike Morette, will begin his two-year term as President.
Mike is the current President of Morette Company, which has provided construction management, general contracting, design building, and development services to Pensacola for forty-five years.
Welcoming the Director of the PSC Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Philanthropy
Joining the Pensacola State College Foundation in December 2023 is Dr. Kylie Henderson, the new Director of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Philanthropy.
