Decades of support for Pensacola State College have been given by three sponsors who are continuing their commitment to our community, our students, our families, and our thriving workforce. Their belief in quality education and the support of partnerships that “care for people” made their decision to sponsor “I am PSC” an easy one. Presenting Sponsors Jo-Ann and Michael Price chose to support the campaign to help students achieve their goals as they strive for a brighter future. Florida Power and Light Company and Navy Federal Credit Union share this belief and commitment to changing lives. For years, they have helped celebrate student success. Their ties to PSC and the community-at-large are strong forces for change.
Leading the effort, Jo-Ann and Michael Price chose to present the inaugural campaign because, “education is a primary concern… and Pensacola State College changes lives.” The Prices commitment to helping other succeed is evidenced by their careful guidance of clients whose financial future is secured through their company, Price Capital Management. Their philanthropy matches their profession as they strengthen nonprofits through The Price Family Foundation. They give with a heart few can match in Northwest Florida and are keenly focused on education where they devote gifts to support scholarships at Pensacola State College and The Santa Rosa Schools Foundation.
With 57 years of support, Florida Power and Light Company and the FPL Foundation have invested in community success by partnering with PSC. In total, they have given to support facilities, scholarships, community events, workforce education, local nonprofits, and a charter academy. Their corporate leadership takes part in multiple boards at the College and are regular volunteers at community events. When asked why they wanted to sponsor the “I am PSC” campaign, David Peaden, External Affairs Manager stated, “For more than 75 years, Pensacola State College has offered numerous educational opportunities to students across our community. FPL is honored to support the “I am PSC” campaign to further the education of so many individuals dedicated to improving their lives and families.”
Though newer to the community and support of Pensacola State, Navy Federal Credit Union’s (NFCU) diverse support made the requested sponsorship a natural fit. Their Head of Corporate Citizenship, Jennifer McFarrren, serves on the Center for Nonprofit Excellence Advisory Council and was in part responsible for the Founding of the Center when she was at Florida Power and Light Company (formerly Gulf Power). When asked about their decision to sponsor, Navy Federal’s External Affairs and Program Manager, Jordan Conti said, “Championing community is a core value at Navy Federal, and we go beyond banking to stand by our military roots through partnerships that care for the people, families, and places where we serve. By supporting the scholarships at PSC, we are helping prepare tomorrow’s workforce, enriching student outcomes, and supporting impactful learning opportunities.”
As we celebrate 75 years of success at Pensacola State College, our “I am PSC” campaign is a wonderful way to celebrate the partners and sponsors who make our work possible. Andrea Krieger, PSC Executive Director of Institutional Development said, “We are proud to highlight these sponsors by placing their logos and names on the back of our limited-edition long-sleeved T-Shirt. Having already raised $81,950 that will be matched $1 for $1 in support of student scholarships we hope donors will join us at the December 5th celebration. We encourage those donors who gave $75 or more to proudly wear their shirts to show their support of students given through their gift to “I am PSC”.
It is not too late to celebrate with us to become a corporate sponsor. Community members who are ready to make a difference should visit IamPSC.org to contribute. Every gift from $1, $5 to $9,999 will be matched $1 for $1 and applied to universal scholarships. Those interested in sponsoring can contact Laura Hill at (850) 484-1564 or at lhill@pensacolastate.edu.
All donors, regardless of gift level, will be invited to enjoy a campaign celebration on December 5th at the BEAR JONES MOORE REEVES Center for Math and Advanced Technology in the Third Floor on the Pensacola Campus. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m., and the PSC Molly McGuire School of Culinary Arts students will serve complementary refreshments.
