PenAir Credit Union, the oldest local credit union in Pensacola, has been an enduring factor in shaping the community since 1936. “Communerosity”, their trademarked core value, fuels their unshakable generosity and support of local businesses, nonprofits, events, fundraisers, sports, and education.
For sixteen years, PenAir has supported Pensacola State College through scholarship initiatives, annual fundraisers, professional development initiatives, and more. In 2016, they announced a gift of $100,000 to establish the PenAir Credit Union Endowed Scholarship, mirroring the milestone accomplishment of 100,000 PSC graduates. Their generous contribution also encompassed a classroom naming in the Edward M. Chadbourne Library where financial literacy classes and seminars would be provided for students, PenAir members, and the community.
One year later, the PenAir Credit Union Classroom was officially dedicated at the College. Stu Ramsey, PenAir President at the time, was on hand for the ceremony stating, “As a community member, PenAir is committed to enhancing lives and we believe that Pensacola State College is in that same vein.” PSC President Ed Meadows added that the credit union’s relationship with the College will ensure that individuals in need of financial and educational assistance will be well-served.
In January of 2020, PenAir made an additional $5,000 contribution to their endowed scholarship. “An educated community is beneficial to everyone,” former President Ramsey shared. “Not only is it beneficial to students receiving scholarships, but the community at large.”
Since 2008, PenAir Credit Union has given over $143,900 to Pensacola State College through scholarship funding, professional development initiatives, and annual fundraisers. Their unwavering support has provided invaluable financial education and assistance to PSC students for over a decade.
