Will joined the PSC Board of Governors in the beginning of 2023. Since then, he has dedicated himself to helping out whenever and wherever possible. Because of this, he chooses to volunteer with the College for many amazing reasons.
“I owe so much to PSC,” Will states. “It wasn’t that long ago (at least I like to think) that I was aimlessly parading around what was then the PJC campus from class to class trying to figure out my path.” He says that during this time that the “proverbial light bulb” flipped on and before leaving PJC, he was able to clearly map out his educational goals. “I will always attribute the assistance in creating that map to the PSC faculty and the structure they provided then and continue to provide now. Giving back to the institution responsible for shaping my future, and consequently my children’s future, is very important to me and something I will never take for granted.”
His favorite aspect of volunteering with the College is the interaction and opportunity to meet new faces. “Connecting with people and building relationships throughout the College and our great community is what I enjoy. Everyone has a story and I absolutely cherish learning their story and sharing mine.”
“PSC has a longstanding history with respect to engagement and partnerships with our community, our campus and the student experience would certainly not be what it is today without the dedicated support of the many wonderful PSC partners. I am humbled to be such a small part of the volunteering effort to ensure those partnerships are supported and maintained for years to come for the benefit of all current and future students and faculty.”
Through his service, Will’s love for PSC shines. He jokes, “What’s not to love about PSC?”
“For so many years PSC has been the foundation of education and opportunities for residents of Pensacola and nearby communities,” he says. “But it’s also been there for students from across the globe. Aided by great leadership, PSC has continued to grow and evolve for the benefit of students at every level, and PSC’s partnership engagement within the community is second to none.”
He explains that the ability for incoming students to receive a “quality” and “affordable” education is something that is “essential to any thriving community”. He adds, “We are so fortunate to have one of the premier state colleges in the country centrally located within our slice of paradise here on the Gulf Coast. No matter your age, furthering your education can certainly be an intimidating and challenging venture, but when you step foot on the campus of PSC you immediately feel like you are at home.”
“Whether it’s the professors, administration, admissions personnel, or alumni, PSC has created and sustained an environment where anyone may feel safe to learn and enjoy everything there is to offer at PSC. Besides that, who can honestly say at some point in their life that they never dreamed of being a Pirate?”
