The holiday gifts arrived a little early for two Pensacola State culinary arts students who each received $500 scholarships from the Cantonment Rotary Club.
Bob Thomas of the Cantonment Rotary Club awarded Phi Hoang Pham and Tiara Ruggs with the scholarships during a luncheon held Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Molly McGuire Culinary Dining Room on the Pensacola campus.
More than 750 Pensacola State students have become Sansing Scholars since the Universal Scholarships program began in 2003, said Pensacola State President Ed Meadows.
“I can’t thank Sandy enough for all he does for Pensacola State and our students,” Meadows said. “Not only does he offer financial support to our students but he also provides life advice to them.”
Pensacola State College’s Visual Arts Department awarded ribbons, plaques and $23,590 in scholarships and prizes to students at the 51st Annual Art Student Honors Ceremony recently.
For the first time, the event also included Judges Choice Awards based on judging from outside the Visual Arts Department. Dreyden Wells, an artist and ceramics instructor at the University of West Florida, selected winning works in the 51st Annual Art Student Honors Exhibition.
