At Pensacola State College, the Foundation manages 250 scholarships that have been privately funded as a legacy that over 258 donors have helped create. Through these scholarships, 175 that are endowed, donors have supported the passions and interests of students who apply for financial assistance.
In 2018, the impact these donors created was felt by the 1,234 students who were helped with awards that exceeded $660,000.
Pensacola State College received $30,000 in scholarship and program funds from Monsanto-Solutia Retirees Inc. on Wednesday, July 24.
The donation was presented to Pensacola State President Ed Meadows during an 11 a.m. press conference in the College’s Board of Trustees meeting room in Building 7, on the Pensacola campus.
Pensacola State President Ed Meadows was touched by the generosity of the Monsanto-Solutia retirees.
Construction on the first phase (East Wing) of the facility began in January – following the abatement and demolition of the existing Mary Ellison Baars Building. The East Wing will be home to the College’s cybersecurity and mathematics programs.
The cost for the East Wing is $13 million. The total cost for the entire facility is projected to be $34 million. A construction start date has not been set for the second phase (West Wing and second-floor connector).
Pensacola State President Ed Meadows said the facility is a necessity.
No European trip is complete without taking in some historical sights, sampling the local fare and experiencing the culture.
A group of Pensacola State College Robinson Honors Program Scholars and faculty members did all that and so much more during a May 25-June 2 tour of Prague and Berlin.
The 11 Robinson Honors Scholars were able to benefit from this cultural immersion program through travel scholarships due to the gracious sponsorship by the Robinson family.”
A recent facelift has taken more than 20 years off of the Pensacola State College Planetarium and Space Theater.
Pensacola State President Ed Meadows said the planetarium updates were long overdue and a great investment for the College.
“The facility attracts thousands of visitors each year – and the planetarium has long been a favorite attraction for area schoolchildren,” Meadows said. “There are very few kids in Santa Rosa County or Escambia County who have not seen a show in the planetarium.”
